Lima to Ecuador & back in 9 Days - Updated, NO REALLY!

Great report, mate! So what exactly are you doing there - no holiday trip or what? Just see that you find time for the Carretera Austral in south Chile. Awesome! And ride right down to Punta Arenas, if you can. If you do - PM me. I cycled that route a couple of years ago.

    Albania - Part II

Yep, let's dig a tunnel. Would save lots of freight costs  :D How long are you going to stay down there? If time permits, don't miss the chilean side of Patagonia. Simply grand! Esp. from Puerto Montt southwards... I'm base near Munich in Germany for lots of years now. Hope to visit ZA next...

    Albania - Part II

No connections - just visiting. But the whole region is so beautiful and untouched by tourism, the people are so genuinely friendly, that I'll probably ride down again in autumn. Central Europe is so densely populated, everything is organised, every dirtroad is closed to he public, camping in...

    Albania - Part II

Good adventure riding only to be found in the east (Romania, Bulgaria) or south-east (Macedonia, Albania, partly Greece). Well, yes, I suppose more than 80% of the european GS riders never ever taste dust  >:D  Meaning there will never be any traffic jams on these pists  :ricky:

Ceres to Citrusdal - Middleburg Pass

Apart from adjusting the suspension I believe the tip regarding the tyre pressure is he most important aspect. After hitting the gravel for a few times I reduced the pressure to 24 psi in front and 26 for he rear tyre. This felt best for my old GS on corrugations and loose gravel/sand. On longer...

Very nice RR. But since I'm not a beach bum, I prefer the pics from around Weenen  ;) Hans

    Albania - Part II

Since Albania is possibly more mountainous than Lesotho the road twisted up and up from the lake over several mountain passes to the town of Kukes, where we stayed for the night. The hotel room for both of us for mere 20 Euros. For three days we travelled alongside the eastern border...

    Albania - Part II

The first visit to Albania in April 2008 sure made an impression on me â?? so much, that I decided to ride down again from Munich in autumn. This time Bodo, who had accompanied me in Southern Africa in 2006 for three months, joined in. Since he is riding the ADV 1150 I decided to borrow the big...

    Arriving from Oz next year

G'day mate, the cheapest offer I got in S.A. to fly my bike to OZ was from Air Mauritius (2006). Personally I wouldn't ship the bike, but fly it to SA. And the easiest IMO is Cape Town. Alternatively maybe Windhoek in Namibia. It might be slightly more expensive to fly the bike instead of...

    Albania - Shqipëria

Môre meneer, I started in Munich together with a friend from northern Bavaria whom I had got to know in OZ. Venice is within easy reach, from there we took a ferry to north-western Greece. Saves you lots of (expensive) fuel, road toll, traffic fines etc. In Skoder/northern Albania we split...

    Albania - Shqipëria

Hi Michnus, read MJ & your phantastic report on Angola. Brilliant and a bit scary, esp. along the doodsakker  Gave me a pinch to start writing my Albania report. No, in Albania you won't be able to rent a bike. Rather in Italy or Germany. Italy is within easy reach by ferry from Brindisi...

    Albania - Shqipëria

Hi mate, the first 1/2 of 2006 saw me buzzing around southern Africa, so it'l take some ime before coming south again. Maybe early 2010 before all the soccer fans arrive  :ricky:

    Albania - Shqipëria

Nothing grand, but I thought this might be of interest for potential Balcan visitors  :laughing4: One thing is for sure: Albania is one of the most enjoyable countries to visit. Friendly people unspoilt by tourism yet, lots of dirt roads, great landscape. We entered Albania from south, from...

9000km in Oz , Sydney to the tropics & back

Wow, that must have been rough. The ride to that meet was way more difficult than the OCR in 2006 at Gascoyne Jct   The road from Carnarvon to Gascoyne only had small sections of bulldust, but no sand like to Lorella... Very nice pics!

Altus, congrats! What a beautiful bike! How is the weight distribution when fueled up? I have fitted the 43L HPN tank on my GS and when filled up the bike is a bit heavy in the front - not so good when riding in sand. Hans

Unfortunately Eddy's homepage doesn't contain very much infos. The only connection to his early m/c life are enduro tours in northern Africa and mx rides in Romania, Italy and Greece. The second link to that Ténéré site is absolutely great. Thx for that. Unfortunately only in German, but the...

Yep, managed to get hold of him  Here is the last (private) HPN used at the Dakar. After initially riding for the Beemer team together with Gaston Rahier he later attended the rally as private motorcyclist. The flickers were fitted after the rally to get the bike roadworthy...
