Lighter Bike - Yes or No??

Here in my part of the Free State the roads tend to be boring. Mostly the usual grondpad, the worst it can get is some ruts from bakkie tracks or bad sinkplaat. Not much technical riding over here, sadly. Almost all adventure bikes from 250's to 1200's will work perfectly. I've been reading some...

    Ching-Chong-Cha.... My Voge300 Rally journey!

If the engine is based on a klx300 I wonder why the service intervals are different? Also noticed that the Bloemfontein Hero dealer is scaling down a lot.

What's this Worth?? 2012 XR 650, VERY Low Miles

I think what makes people still buy these bikes at crazy prices is the lack of a modern single cylinder dualsport that has decent service intervals, enough power and cush drive etc. Sure there is the ktm/Husqvarna 350/500/501/690/701 and honda crf450l (Not widely available) but these require...

    Honda XL500 2025

Sal nice wees as dit waar is, maar lyk vir my ook soos photoshop. Honda bring nou die nx500 uit, basies 'n cb500x met nuwe looks.

    Ladies first bike.

My vote goes for a used crf250l. The Xpulse 200 would also be a good choice. My wife is 1.64m and she handles the Honda well.

    CRF300 rally vs Husqvarna 701/DR650

Between the 3 options you mentioned, the crf300l would be my choice, if you don't like vibration. I haven't ridden any of the 3, but I do own a crf250l and a klr650. The crf250l is VERY smooth for a single cylinder, especially compared to my klr, that thing has vibes. The older 650 singles will...

    WALLET AND THINGS

The guy who lost his topbox, was new to biking. I remember he said something about how he quit smoking and saved up the money he used to pay for cigarettes to do something he always wanted to. He ended up buying his first bike. Pity he lost the topbox with his belongings on his first trip. He...

Do you take your top box on dirt road trips?

The topbox on my klr is noisy when riding dirt. Met a guy last year at Augrabies who lost the topbox on his 700GS on his way there, his wallet, cellphone and house keys gone with the top box. Also noticed stuff gets mangled in there if it is not stuffed with a jacket or clothes. When my wife is...

    The Pooratech Thread

Added a bracket in the middle to attach the mount for the fuel tank. Coated it with a primer yesterday, will finish spraying it black when I get home this afternoon.

Built my own pannier racks a year ago for my klr. Busy modifying them to take a spare fuel tank.

No more bike for 2 weeks

    Show us your KLR

It was an old train bridge, just to the right is a Boer war blockhouse. It is situated close to Tom's place next to the N1.

While the wife was at a work function I took the klr out for a ride to view the city lights. About a week ago.

This is my 2012 Model. Bought it about 2 years ago. Did the doohickey fix and had fun doing small upgrades. I'm happy with it as it is now, will keep this one. Took a tumble just after taking this foto :)

    Legend vs tax free

I remember a post somewhere about an uncle Lodie de Jager traveling from SA to Germany on his klr, the bike is currently in a museum somewhere. Owning a klr is like drinking Black label, your not going to be one of the cool dudes, but I still enjoy mine. I see it for what it is, a cheap way of...

Bike Insurance - Who do you recommend

I'm also with outsurance. Don't think they are the cheapest but I am happy with their service. Wrote off my gs last year. Luckily took additional credit shortfall insurance. Bike was paid out in full, they kept me notified throughout the whole process, no hassles for me to deal with.
