    Dunlop D 606 or Pirelli MT 21?

No problem for me any more because my X/challenge is gone, however... D606 on the front was fine on the dirt but very worrying on tar at 100kmh or more. I mentioned it here and was told to let it wear in a bit and it would improve. It did get better, but never had a really confident feeling...

Driving Tired - a Tale of Utter Stupidity

Back around 1983 I was working in product development for Ford Motor co. We were changing to local content ADE/ASTAS engines and transmissions to replace imported content. We were getting persistent problems with cracking around engine/transmission bell housings and were running a 24/7 test...

    Bike crutch

Are there no pooratech people here? I worked out the length by trial and error. Then cut a piece of broomstick to length. Stuck a stud in one end to locate a hole drilled in the bash plate. On my X/challenge it worked, but it was a bit wobbly. Just had to be careful to loosen the axle nut first...

    RIP Watermat

I seem to recall my great friend Alwyn du Preez a while back registered as a WD with the name Fandango. Didn't participate much, I believe because profanity in discussion wasn't to his taste. He passed yesterday after suffering a sudden brain haemorrhage. My biking fraternity is much diminished...

There's a hole in the road.

Those are my pictures. The road is between Loerie and Gamtoos river bridge. We have always called the area "Cowshit Crossing" Ah, for the good old days when all you had to worry about was the cowshit. 😬 New Triumph front rim R19,600. I hope that Honda parts are cheaper because my Mate has to...

There's a hole in the road.

Just don't buy a motorbike unless it has wire spoked wheels. Preferably steel ones. Don't ask me more, I'm too sick.

    2006 (carb) 900 Triumph Scrambler - oil ?

R.T.F.M. Does anybody really think that they can get better protection or more mileage by using anything other than what their engine manufacturer specifies in the 'book'? The 'common' oil companies, Shell, BP, Caltex, Castrol et al, produce perfectly good oils which can't be bettered by paying...

Shaun Dickens - Bike Sellers Beware

I have nothing to do with any of this old bollocks except that I've been reading it for ages and it seems that by now surely everyone and his pet poodle must know that the guy is a crook. Why doesn't everyone just delete him. Or 'cancel culture' him, or whatever they call it?

WARNING - Road, Fouriesburg to Ladybrand

Is anyone old enough to remember when that Eastern Free State road was ever in good condition? "Cos I can remember it being in a shocking state way back in the "old" South Africa. :cautious:

    Triumph Motocross

The 'old' Triumph company, of which I was a big fanboy certainly achieved their share of glory in competition. Maybe not in pure MX, but in virtually every other branch. ISDT, trials, American style off road and flat track. Also world record setting, dragstrip, and notably from the mid '60's to...

City of Cape Town - tip

I've noticed that reporting potholes here in PE is getting some results. They're responding by coming and painting pretty yellow lines around them. Can't say they're not on the ball here! 😁/😢

Do you take your top box on dirt road trips?

I must have heard the story more than a hundred times till it makes me yawn, and likewise most of my mates, but it still doesn't stop the teller retelling it and cracking up every time the subject of top boxes is mentioned.Yes, he stopped and bought a load of pineapples from a roadside...
