Epic Biking Fails - Post your videos

All this time I've been thinking that footpeg meant something entirely different.....

    FortNine on RPM's

"Don't let the engine labour - use the gearbox", That's what you read as a kid in the manual of your first bike under running in instructions. Common sense says upper mid range is the place to be and deliberate persistent 'red lining' is for morons. How many times have I stood watching and...

    FortNine on RPM's

Sure, use the whole tachometer, but if you really try, you can get a bit more out of it. Give it a go. :devilish:

    THEFT DETERRENT IDEA

Main thing I rely upon is noise they'll have to make. Four barrel bolts inside the garage door, heavy duty burglar gate made by me on the small door, and in my little townhouse rabbit hutch my sleeping head is just inches from the garage, separated by a single brick wall. They'll need to make a...

    What oil ?

Has your bike got round pistons? Strange, I thought that all pistons were oval. That's why I've always used oval piston oil in all my bikes. 🤨

Is a chain guard a must, yes or no?

I have always thought that a chain guard on a bike was a legal requirement. And I have often thought that the skimpy minimalist attachments on many bikes were there simply to make them barely legal. And I also thought that people bought BMW's in the interest of lightness to save the weight of a...

The joy of owning a bike

Good to see affordable bikes for 'ordinary' folks still featured on the forum. Enjoy them!

    Tyre keuse KTM 500?

For what it's worth, my 2cents on D606's on my X Challenge. They are good on dirt, cheap, well relatively, but don't last too long. The front however worried me at first feeling that it would go into a tank slapper over 110kmh. I was advised that it would settle after a bit of mileage, and it...

    SNOW CHASING

Heated grips, related to the topic I suppose. Some years back I had an F650GS that had them, but they never did work and I never bothered to find out why. Now my recently acquired Triumph has them and the previous owner explained to me the 2 position switch saying that position one was...

    SNOW CHASING

Just live with snow for years and ride in it for a few seasons and you won't be so charmed by it. Specially when it turns to filthy slush and then re-freezes. Having said that, I do love the sight of it. On the top of distant mountains. 😀

Foam air filter instead of OEM paper air filter - BMW Dakar

Maybe a little off topic? I dunno, but we're talking about air filters here, and to me, more important than the paper/foam question is how easily accessible is the bloody thing. It's a regular service item and if it takes more than 15 minutes to do the job, without stripping half the bike, then...

SITTING AND DABBING IN MUDDY SECTIONS

The pic above was posted while I was typing. Yeah, that's more like it, but with a much narrower path of course, and hemmed in with thick bramble bushes.

SITTING AND DABBING IN MUDDY SECTIONS

That's why mud is not necessarily my least favourite surface. "Marbles " is what does me in, and sand too.

SITTING AND DABBING IN MUDDY SECTIONS

Looong ago, back on mud island, riding off tar meant riding on mud. Not a snotty top dressing, but a deep mud wallow. But at least your wheels didn't skid or slide. They were more likely to stick fast! And all this talk of "dabbing" makes me smile, It was called "legging"

Yamaha DT 175 - What are they like?

Mine was a '73 DT175. At the time I was very one-eyed pro British and I bought the piece of cheap Jap crap just to save my beautiful Triumph from the salt and slush on the winter roads. Also because I had a couple of mates who had taken up the new fad for trail riding and I fancied having a go...

Riding a Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer an incredible 4012km in 24H !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta show this to my mates. They've stopped listening to me always advocating for longer breakfast rides. Perhaps they'll listen now. o_O

    It's like being on board

Love the 'classic' leathers and helmet/goggles. 😊 Someone at the FIM should have been castrated for changing the rules to limit 250's to just two cylinders. 😭 I'll never forget watching Mike Hailwood deliberately blowing up one of those engines getting off the startline at Brands Hatch. He...
