The Most Important Motorcycle You Never Heard Of

And Yamaha came good with their 2 stroke technology when they funded a research programme at Queens university in Belfast Northern Ireland by Dr. Gordon Blair who was studying the effects of pressure wave resonance, one of the pioneers of using a computer to perform the myriad calculations...

    1969 Yamaha 175 Enduro …

Very little different, if any different at all to my 1973 DT175. I travelled by train and underground about 120 km to South London to buy it because the dealer there was giving the biggest discount. Walked in and plonked my cash down and said "I want one of those". An hour or so of paperwork...

Guess who I just bumped into ?...............Noraly

Modern Morocco is a much changed place. I was there in 1973. It was a filthy, scary place, full of hustlers and thieves with animal carcases (donkey?) laid out on butchers tables, crawling with flies in broiling heat. That said, it was fascinating, and I enjoyed it for the most part although I...

The Best application for a Boxer ever!!!

I was going to raise the same question as Dan about the 'hardtail' rear. Just right for some long distance potholing.🤪

Have you owned both a 990 and now a T7? - Weigh in below!

My experience of D606 is that they are not a very stable front tyre, with a weird 'floaty' feeling. But they're cheap....relatively speaking.

    BUYING USED KIT

I have used gloves for sale. They were very much the worse for wear, but I cut the fingers off to make them fingerless for summer use, and botched the shredded palms with some stitching and fabric glue. I'm open to offers. :D

    BUYING USED KIT

One thing for sure. Nobody buys used kit from me. By the time I'm finished with it, it's not even fit for recycling! :ROFLMAO:

    Bad move, did I make?

Thanks DouglasN. You actually posted a download of the full workshop manual when I first enquired back in Dec. Thanks also for the pics, I wouldn't be able to post pics myself - too thick - but mine is virtually identical apart from a Yoshi exhaust and the luggage set which is Triumph branded...

    Bad move, did I make?

This was supposed to be a rave about my "new" bike. Triumph Tiger 1050 with only forty thousand clicks, bought from a mate at a nice price. Beautiful, with full matching luggage (when required, I only wear luggage when it's needed). 'Iron butt' comfortable, and everything so naaice, especially...

    The good old thumper

Just watched that vid. Should a 70 year old be riding off road? Well 70 for me was 9 years ago and I would have replied "Hell, yeah!" But 9 years can bring changes and the main change for me has been loss of strength and stamina. I get very upset when I fail in places where I know I should be...

    Faarkups, Fails and Fixes!

Old timers that I worked with as a youngster used to tell me that running sprockets like that was a necessity in the dark days immediately following the 2nd world war. Absolutely no spare parts were available and the only option was to tension the chain like a bowstring. Only possible with rigid...

    Retiring the Arai…..

Like I said. Funny mood. I'm going through some changes I guess, and under a bit of stress. Living with a dementia affected partner, and wondering if I'm not headed down that path myself. Nothing to do with helmets. Why am I in this thread? Make allowances. 😱

    The good old thumper

....and boy, I remember how chuffed I was when I could finally afford a Cromwell 'jet style' helmet. They were the coolest!

    The good old thumper

....when carburettor 'trumpets' were open to the air and you had a bath plug on a chain to stop the geese flying in when parked. did someone say something about 1hr 45 mins to change an air filter? 🤣

    Retiring the Arai…..

I've been running mostly elderly bikes on a shoestring budget and wearing cheap cheap gear for 62 years, and I refuse to feel inferior when I see and read of the affluent 'other half ' with the latest in fashion top of the range everything, and sorry, rant over, ignore this post, funny mood...

    5 miles of Hell…..

I think I recall reading somewhere that the "World Series" in the USA is so called because it was initiated and sponsored by a publication called The World. Another bit of useless trivia that you can't help picking up.

    Is everyone OK today?

Just the usual Friday morning brekkie ride. Couple of the usual suspects were absent. One had a cataract done yesterday and couldn't see his way clear to riding this morning. The other was having plumbing problems so he was a broken old geyser. Otherwise all very well. Tomorrow it's Elands river...
