    EICMA 2022

So, the Chinese are now outsourcing their manufacture to Spain. Bound to happen eventually I suppose

    Is it just me …

Plastics and legal exhaust systems. (n) Necessary in the modern world I suppose, but so wrong......:( The Le Mans Mk 1 was a thing of beauty.

Advise PLEASE : Pewter - how to Fix/Weld??

"Zinc based die casting alloy" , or "monkey metal" is what we used to call that stuff. "It can't be welded" is the rule, but I have actually seen it successfully welded by some who either didn't know the rule or were prepared to ignore it on the basis of nothing to lose if you fuck it up.

Are You A Bike Brand Whore ?

Brand regardless, every bike I've ever bought apart from two, has been voetstoets, so the issue of whether there's a dealer in town, or even in the country has been largely irrelevant.

Are You A Bike Brand Whore ?

In terms of what I've hung on to for longest it's been BMW by a goodly margin, then joint second tie between Triumph and Yamaha. In numbers it's been Triumph (5) Suzuki (3) BMW (3) BSA (2) and one each of various others. So not a brand junkie.

Are You A Bike Brand Whore ?

Nope. Not a brand whore at all, although having cut my teeth and spent my formative years mostly on Triumphs, I do have a leaning towards them. However I haven't owned one for over 40 years, but have ridden a couple that I have serviced and worked on for friends. I'm happy with the other brands...

Why are Dual Sport Riders So Old?

Whether all of the factors that you guys cite are true and relevant, and I don't necessarily go along with them all , not in my case anyway, I can say this in my experience. Make the most of those golden years between finding freedom from the burdens of financial and family responsibility, and...

SHOW US PICS OF YOUR PETS - Poll added

Honda dirt bike with a boxer motor? Must be a photoshop. Or maybe a spelling mistake. Not a Honda, just a Hond.

    Africa Twin 750 - Warhorse

Epic trip and scenery on a classic bike, but that miserable weather would put a damper :giggle: on it for me! 🥶

The return of the Vertical Twin.

I have a parallel, almost vertical, inline (transverse, but it's still a line) twin, and it's elderly but very very good. 👌 like it's owner. :giggle:

    Buffalo Rally 2005

2005, the second and last time I went to the Buff. Having been to the 2004 event in PE and come home with a cheque for 60 grand in my pocket 🤩😁🤪 I went all the way to Mossel Bay in '05 and won nothing, so I never went again.

BMW connected ride a disappointment for me (so far)

Last time I bagged a test ride some time ago on a 1200 Triumph, I told the oke before setting out, to disable every thing, 'cos I didn't want to stuff around with settings, I just wanted to ride the motorbike. I wonder if they let me loose on a new 1250 whether they'd do the same. They know me...

For those who still have big thumper love

Of course it looks like a Yammy XT. That's what it's meant to look like. Maybe that round cover thingy might be dispensable, save a little of the excess weight. The street version has a bit too much chrome for my liking, should rather be black like the scrambler. Otherwise everything looks good...

    DO YOU PARTAKE ?

I accept it as fact that alcohol consumption causes impaired judgment and slowed reactions. And this can lead to accidents in which other people can be injured or killed. That's why I feel guilty these days if I consume a single light (2,4%) beer before riding, and sometimes ashamedly resort to...
