This. Overrev?  Have you ridden a 690/701? Why do you want wind protection when shredding on the dirt? You want airflow because you are probably sweating your a balls off by now. I have a regular KTM 690 screen and it's fine up to 130kph. I cannt argue with people who want to sit behind...

Yeah indeed! Got some new respect for the AT'S capability after this, although I'm sure one can put that rider on anything and it will perform :) In the end it could have ended badly for him. I feel he was lucky getring out unscathed. But he sure can ride.

Having ridden a 450, not sure about the 500 yet but the 690/701 are TONS better on the road than any of the 450's I've RIDDEN not to mention 10 000km oil and valve checks vs the 1000 odd you would need to do on the 450-500's. 600km tar stretch is relatively easily doable on a stock 690. Not sure...

People kept telling me what amazing bike the 690 was. I didn't believe them at first, they eventually convinced me, I got one, and now I'm telling you, the 690 is a seriously good and fun bike! This one seems even better! Yes the price is getting up there now, but I still think at R152k it's...

Had an impromptu mess around there yesterday as well.

The 2019 KTM has the similar engine as the original KTM Duke 690 from 2016 onwards, that's the same engine the 701 came out with later (2017/2018. It has a 13.5l fuel tank vs the 10.2l fuel tank of the 2018 model. Rocker arm bearings weren't an issue after 2015 models unless you were unlucky...

KLR is probably a better distance traveler because of size of fuel tank and it's got better wind protection than the XT660R The 660R will be more fun and you can do more with it looks wise and offroad wise. Both great bikes IMHO. In terms of your hight I'd also say the KLR will be more comfortable.
