Just seen this now but you definitely made the right choice. One of the many reasons I prefer the 650 is the upright stance of the engine. Similar look to the 550, which to my mind makes it look more classic than the later inclined cylinders.
In 92 the DR800 manual gives a slightly different procedure. The tensioner system is the same so this is possibly a better way to do it for the earlier models as well.
That system looks identical to the one on the DR750 (SR41). On the 750 it should be adjusted every 12 000km just by loosening the bolts and letting the tension of the spring take up any slack. The mechanism itself needs no maintenance although I suppose it's not impossible that the chain could...
Thanks guys. I don't think that Startline one will work and getting from the UK won't be cost effective.
It doesn't have to be one for a DR. There are hundreds of bikes that used similar master cylinders.
I'm looking for a front brake master cylinder for my DR750 rebuild. https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=133030.0
Standard size is 14mm but 5/8"(15.8mm) may also work. Any condition.
Thanks

While I'm waiting to sort out the front master cylinder issue I've been trying to improve the rear drum brake. Despite having the shoes relined there is too much pedal travel and not enough bite. I've discovered that although the liner in the hub is still within spec there seems to be a small...
Thanks. I spent quite a bit of time in photoshop mocking up different colour combinations. Was hard to choose! Even once I'd settled on the black and white theme it was still hard to decide what to put where. Maybe white side covers? Maybe silver swing arm? What about the bash plate? Decisions...

Actually it wasn't bad at all. I was lucky to not run into any major snags because I didn't have the budget to just throw money at it. And putting all the nice clean shiney parts back together was very enjoyable.
