Thanks very much. That could possibly work. I know the Suzuki Bandit one is compatible and it is considered an upgrade because it has a slightly bigger bore but I'm sure there must be lots of different models that use a compatible cylinder.

    Thanks I'll try that.

Still no front brakes.  :( Good news is I know what's wrong. Bad news is I need another brake master cylinder. The bore is worn too much and even with new seals the cylinder is leaking. Yes leaking brake fluid on my new paintwork.  >:( So anybody have a suitable master cylinder lying around...

HPN have arived in the Country

I spent some time reading up about greases when doing my rebuild. I don't have any experience with this. Just what I read. Apparently lighter weight greases are more suited for use with "zero rpm bearings" like the ones used in the steering and swing arm. In these applications thicker grease can...

It got easier! The practise was good I suppose.  ;D

Haha I was wondering when someone was going to spot that! I had that tyre on and off 4 times to sort out a puncture and when I finally got that sorted I noticed the tyre was on the wrong way! I'll sort it out shortly.

Thanks guys again for all the nice comments.  ;D Went for a little ride this afternoon. Perfect day here in PE. Temps in the late 20's and not a breath of wind. The bike is awesome to ride. It's amazing how well it compares with a GS650 Dakar and it's 20 years older! Really going to enjoy it...

:imaposer: I wouldn't know but like I was telling everyone here, you're the expert.  :)

I'm going to strip the master cylinder again this evening. I'm wondering if one of the seals got damaged.

Guys thanks very much for the comments and all the encouragement and advice throughout this build. Also thanks to Jupiter and Pie for donating the used tires. Still a good couple of trips left in them! And a special thanks to my buddy Herms who also donated a couple of things to this project...

Thank you. One last trip to Builders Warehouse for two or three nuts and bolts that I'm missing and still need to fit the new exhaust. And sort out the front brake. But it's rideable!

    DR750 rebuild (Ride report pics!)

I know it doesn't look like much progress but almost everything is done. All the electrics are working and I'm hoping I can finish it off tomorrow. The front brake has taken me a couple of hours and I still can't get it bled properly. With new disc, pads and seals for caliper and master cylinder...

These are the standard OE tanks. 29 litres!

Thanks Rob for the info. I like the exhaust mounted high and close to the fender but I'd already decided to move it slightly away for the reasons you mentioned. I'll pay close attention to the link pipe when I get that done. The exhaust that was on the bike was really ugly and mounted badly but...

    DR750 rebuild (Ride report pics!)

I've already sprayed everything thank goodness. Was quite a job. And I did the plastics and tanks twice. First in gloss, which I didn't like, and then in satin. I'm getting amped to see the end product too. Won't be long now. Monday will be exactly 30 days since I started and that's the goal.

A huge thanks to my good friend Herms who helped me with two very stubborn bearings that were impeding my progress!  :thumleft: The race for the lower steering bearing has almost no lip to get a grip on to hammer it out from above. And even after we welded on this bolt it put up a good fight...
