Life in America - We made the move.

I took an introductory Krav Magazine class. Right after an introductory kick boxing class. I was well and truly finished, and I couldn't move for 3 or 4 days. But it was fun at the time! You had to be very comfortable being very up in other people's faces though.

Here's a photo of the gust lock. The ailerons and rudder are hydraulic, but the elevator is mechanical. The gust lock has pins that go up and secure the elevator to stop it from flapping about in windy conditions when we are on the ground. When we line up on the runway, we release the gust...

Looking for a low-cost, quality, small motorcycle trip tent.

I have the P-Series 2 person tent and love it. I see the 3 Person is on sale, for less than the 2P. https://www.naturehike.co.za/products/p-series-3-person-tent?_pos=2&_psq=p-ser&_ss=e&_v=1.0 One vestibule either side for gear storage, and you can open the one vestibule flap to make a roof...

That's correct. The ERJ can turn on a dime. We are able to use differential thrust (right turns are easier because you can move the left thrust lever more than the right when on the ground - this is due to the control lock, which is the yellow bit you can see to the left of the two white thrust...

@EssBee Here's a not so great photo of the ERJ cockpit (it's the simulator, hence the weird grey outside). Tiller is circled in red on the left.

Suck, squeeze, bang, blow. If you have ever wondered what is going on inside the engine of the airliner you're flying in, here is a fantastic video on the operation of the turbojet engine. I got goosebumps.

Despite the temperatures that have been all over the show, it is clear by the clouds that summer is here... I am fascinated by the clouds. But the weather we get here is no joke, and I like to keep well clear. It does make for some very pretty views though.

The ERJ and EJet only have a tiller on the left hand side. You can taxi using rudders only, but you're very limited in the amount you can turn. So after landing, from 60kts and slower, the Captain takes control.

My African Dream - reporting from Haiti

10 and a bit years ago, I flew my last flight in the Cessna 172 as a Stellenbosch Flying Club instructor. I embarked on a journey that had me flying pistons less and less, until eventually, after 2018, I hardly touched them. Today, I got back into a Cessna 172. The flows and procedures and...

Re: Captain Zef's in Michigan USA

Didn't they use the Rivian for the crew of Charlie and Ewan's latest bike trip adventure thing, where they used electric Harley's? I couldn't really get into that show. Just not right not having the usual bike sounds.

Botswana Entry - Costs & Currency

They normally take cards and ZAR, and if not, I have found the guys at the border exchange ZAR for Pula at quite a good rate. I think fuel is still a lot cheaper in Botswana than in South Africa, so fill up that side, BUT, make sure they accept cards before you fill up.

My African Dream - reporting from Haiti

After a couple of hours back in Cape Town, we headed back to Namibia, but this time to Windhoek. My first night flight there, the Captain cautioned me against the black hole effect into Windhoek. Because Windhoek International is also in the middle of nowhere, there is very little ambient...
