    Zambian Joyride

The pics are great, but the quality of the writing is what makes MJ reports a winner. And I love the way I can pick up bits of info along the way, like the Baobab tree disintergrating back into the bush, because it is fibrous. The big surprise of course, was discovering you guys had pontoons...

Look what I picked up for Jaqhama

The plan is that Mav and I will share the bike. So Lin and I will then be able to go back every couple of years and ride around. In the meantime Mav gets to use it. We haven't quite worked out all the finer details yet, but we will. We'll be doing a Ride Report over at ADVrider...I'll post up...

Look what I picked up for Jaqhama

Yeah, you're not wrong. I was supposed to commute to work in peak hour traffic for another eight night shifts. I've changed that to six commutes now. And four of them will be on a Sat and Sun when there is no peak hour traffic. Trying not to take any chances. I won't be doing any trail riding...

Look what I picked up for Jaqhama

Nice vid. Lin said something about not getting any ideas? I think she meant Moroccco, sand dunes, stuff like that? Actually Gaston Rahier has always been my hero. "A little man with a giant reputation!"

Look what I picked up for Jaqhama

G'day everyone I'd like to take this oppotunity to thank Maverick publicly. In one of those strange coincidences that seem to happen a lot more than we might think, Monty, the chap I bought the bike from, not only lives in the same county as Maverick...but only 30 miles down the road. And when...

Going Australia - want to ride

Hey Borerjie Been a long time since I've popped in here. And I haven't been paying much attention to the Oz section on ADVrider either. I'm in Sydney. Can't help you with renting bikes in Melbourne but plenty of Oz ADVer's live in Melbourne. ADVrider OZ is here...

    Seasons Grettings

Shalako-Lin and I would like to wish all the Wild Dogs a Merry Xmas and all the best wishes for the New Year. I know i've been a real stranger here lately but as soon as that damn novel gets finished I'll be back reading ride reports and drooling over your oh-so cool riding places. (Bought an...

    Sheep skin covers

Used a sheepskin for years. Lots of Oz riders do. I just bought a piece of fleece and used very thin cord to hold it on. Tied the cord from one side of bike seat to the other. The thin cord goes down inside the thick fleece, so it doesn't leave a mark on ya butt. Only problem with a fleece is...

The Central Europe Rally : First rally of the A.S.O. «Dakar Series»

Romania...my money's on Team Van Helsing. 8) A rally thru the mist shrouded Carpathian Mountains...it might not just be the knobby tires that have some bite to them. ;D

    SWMBO's & G/F on Bikes

Shalako-Lin was going to write this with her username but it's not being reconised now? She has ridden her own bikes for two years now. ZZR 250. DT 175. Ducati 680. 250 Sherpa. The only reason she doesn't ride my BMW Boxer is because her legs aren't long enough to get the side-stand down, past...

    brenda on biking

Here's another old biker's poem for you. Us outlaw bikers got no fears We do not stop at trifles We hang cops balls up on the walls And shoot at 'em with rifles Us outlaw bikers got no fears We'll make you piss your britches We'll fuk your wives with bowie knives We're mean, tough, sons of...

    brenda on biking

I'll expand on this a bit for those interested. Brenda writes for Women Riders...which I'm guessing is actually: https://www.womenridersnow.com/ The Editor is Genevive Schmidt who is a good friend of Keith 'Bandit' Ball...who is the ex-editor of the iconic American bikers magazine Easyriders...

Sounds like the sorta thing a shrink might write about bikes. Or someone who reads greek myths too much. ;D Biking is biking. The centuar comparisom has been mentioned in regards to riding motorcycles for a couple of decades now. She ain't writing anything that hasn't been written by others...

My first (almost) 1000 k's with the Lifan

The lag in pulling away... Turn idle up a bit to maybe 1500...or adjust clutch lever/cable so the clutch takes up sooner. The liffy is a 200 yeah? Not going to have awesome acceleration anyway. Other will know...is there a restrictor in the header pipe? The muffler? The airbox? Bigger carb...

Got taken out this morning on the N1

Some debate about a multi-colored helmet actually. Like urban camo colors a multi colored helmet can blend in more with local surroundings than a plain white one. Suggested most visible colors are plain gloss white, orange, yellow or light blue. (Wear a black full face road or a black and...
