When my brother left SA they were told that in order to make a success of the move and sever all ties with SA, it was advised that they do return to SA for a minimum of 5 years. It took him 17 years to return and after his stay he said he wouldn't be back. Sad but true.

My brother just vissited SA after an absence of 17 years having moved to Narre Warren, Melbourne. He was showing me pics and video of his Jeep club and bike trips in that area and as far north as York (something) and Fraser Island. Man, you have some amazing scenery out there!

I've got the 990S and man, that suspension is great. Cant comment on the 1090. The ride on a long stretch of road will give you a sore ass, but when using the 990 like it was intended, it's a lot of fun!

Loved the Versys. I bought it to commute to work with. It wasn't long before I was using it on the odd breakfast run in preference to my SV1000S. For the use you describe, it will do you very good service.

There is a very neat looking one in George for R55k. Chatted to the owner briefly. Seems like an honest, open sort. No BS.

Mind you, one could perhaps make instant coffee with it.... it will get hot! When it's hot and when the going gets slow boiling fuel is not unheard of, same like with the 790 btw. But, a good idea indeed  :thumleft: :laughing4: True, but a coffee or tea stop is then taken care of!  :P

Extra fuel carrying options on the 690 seem to be: a) rally type setup with a small aux tank on the left and right side - like Omega setup b) under seat options - Rade - limited capacity c) single aftermarket tank - Safari etc. For those that have gone down this route, could you please share...
