I was about to post the same.. I have always loved the 640..but a thumper like that on a commute gets tiring really quickly. I know, I sold my 690 because of that
Luckily I dont have any cracking on mine. Not sure if pressures play a role. I kept it at about 2bar in all conditions, maybe up to 2.2 if I had to commute.

You need to bridge the wires in the switch. When I had my 800, I just cut the wires and joined them. Switch was damaged anyway. But if you dont want to cut it, then you will have to make yourself a bridge connection that connects into the plug at the switch
