    The Dreaded Rotor Failure

I have one of the early LC models, March 2013 I think), has none of the fancy add ons i.e. heated grips(not something most of you will ever need), cruise control etc. So at what milage do you see issues start.

    R1250GS perfect, BoosterPlug?

I came from a 1150GS with loads off lowdown power to 1200GS LC early model that likes more revs, wanted to sell it after the first week and buy back the 1150GS. All changed after I did two things. 1. Installed a booster plug so choppy low end is less (not totally gone but significant less) 2...

Frameless soft luggage for LC advice

I used DirtSack for a while on my LC and worked really well. Was a bit sceptical it will burn or get caught in wheel but after two long trips with overnights stay I had no issues. No frames were used. I did use a heat shield on the exhaust. Important to keep anything away from the "blowy" end of...

Smallest Packed Tent and Self Inflating Mattress??

Agree, I have  one man and two man and on the bike I always take two man because the one man is not big enough for myself and my jacket, trouser, boots and other pieces I need inside the tent. Also when weather turn bad, maybe not a problem for you folks, it gives you place to make some food etc.

    Powerwashers

I have the Karcher K2, the small K and on the soft settings you will have to try hard to damage seals etc. I think more important is to take the bike for a ride after washing to dry everything.

    Please help!!!!!! TOOLS TO CARRY

Agree, mine blew a fuse the second time I needed it, didn't have spare fuses. Lesson leant and now I carry a range of fuses. We are lucky that there is normally someone around with a compressor, you guys ride a lot more remote than we do and not always safe to be stuck for to long.

Got a 10" sliding 1/2" sliding wrench bar and can now remove the rear wheel. Thanks for the tip.

    Please help!!!!!! TOOLS TO CARRY

I try and do a full major service with my toolkit at least once to make sure it covers most situations. Found the stubby ratchet I had, to save space, didn't have enough leverage to remove the rear wheel bolts. And then also  zip ties, gorilla tape, fuses, torch, tyre repair kit and compressor...

    LC Windshield adjustable arms

Could come up with a better excuse than that. I am sure if I hit the screen with my head or body using the Wunderlich screen brace and Wunderlich screen stabiliser the screen will break instead of injuring me. Will get a photo tomorrow.

    LC Windshield adjustable arms

I put on Wunderlich screen brace and Wunderlich screen stabilisers. Part No: WUN-43520-302 and WUN-43520-212 when I put on the bigger screen. It made a use differnce on the stability of the screen.

    Removed the exhaust flappy servo

Did you have the servo motor still connected to the electrical system of the bike and just removed the wires connected to the flappy valve?

Wiring for aftermarket spots etc on 2016 LC Adv

Had to add a Denali Powerhub2 fuse box because the number of wires running to my battery looked like a spaghetti bowl. Was easy to install and one wire had to be cut into but they supplied posi-tap connector to make it easy and clean. I have my heated clothing, Innovv C5 camera, electric tyre...

    Removed the exhaust flappy servo

Not sure if the seizing of the flappy thingy in the exhaust is also a problem for you there in warm SA but we seem to have a lot of it happening here with the wet weather and salt being spread on the roads. So I took the servo and cables leading to the flappy thingy off and put a servo buddy in...

    1200 GSA k51 Spec - Booster plug

Put the booster plug in about 1000 miles ago because I nearly had a crash filtering slowly and the snatchy throttle. Here is my observations. R1200GS Early 2013 LC. The one with the light flywheel. At the time I was riding in Road and Rain modes and was very conscious of the throttle being very...

    advice on high milage

Service history is always my first check. Even if it is done by the owner, what has been done and how regular. A pack of receipts is always a good indication for me of a owner that  loved the bike.

2013 BMW R1200GS LC enters limp mode

Sorry to high jack the thread but seems the servo buddy may eliminate the servo trying to do it's job and may stop it from damaging itself as BlingKing suggested - https://youtu.be/FpJ-6zpuWN0 see this video. May help someone in future.

2013 BMW R1200GS LC enters limp mode

Hi BlingKing, will a servo buddy not solve this problem of the servo motor burning out. Not sure if it will prevent the servo motor from actually trying to do anything or just prevent the error code from appearing. Will need to read up a bit more.

    1200 GSA K51 - De-cat

I am planning to remove the cat in future and use Black Widow headers, only reason is to save weight. If you need a louder exhaust then an end can alone will be enough and a lot cheaper. Will probably also rev easier, not that 1200 LC already rev a lot easier than the 1150GS I have read many...

Wiring for aftermarket spots etc on 2016 LC Adv

Under rear seat is where i have just installed Denali Cansmart for lights and sound bomb horn ran wires from battery to there. Nice that they added a positive mount point next to the battery as that is the terminal that is deepest inside the battery box. There is also a bit of space under the...
