    The Pooratech Thread

Good idea. Better if you first put on a nut (or nuts) so you can use the nut/s to correctly tighten the fitting to the frame with the eyelet in a chosen position - flat, vertical, angled, etc. Also, using a stainless steel marine one will be stronger:

    Pulling a trailer

According to that regulation, it would also be illegal to tow a motorcycle with another motorcycle on a public road. That makes recovery of stranded bikes by fellow riders illegal - on a public road.

    Bike Finance BS?

The last time I financed a new bike, I found that finance under R100k carried a premium of around 1%. So I reduced my deposit, paid on-road costs cash and arranged my own vehicle insurance (which I prepaid as an annual premium as part of my homeowner, asset and vehicle insurance policy.) After...

    An Apology........

When people are deeply upset by anger or by loss, they may lash out. Sometimes they may spontaneously say something that they later regret in hindsight. We should all recognise that this is a human trait that resides in us all. An apology has been tabled. Forgiveness is appropriate. Life is too...

    Lenny Spinola.....RIP

If anyone ever needed a benchmark example of the value of a positive attitude, service to customers, knowledge of and application to his work and both personal and work ethics, Lenny Spinola was the epitome of it all. I was utterly shocked and deeply saddened when I heard the news yesterday ...

    Expired bike license costs

I sold a bike just before the licence disk expired. When I handed in the Notice of Change of Ownership form after the sale, Gauteng would not remove my name from the title because the licence disk had then expired. I had to renew it before the change went through.

    THEFT DETERRENT IDEA

My son used to install motorised gates. He always welded in strong steel angle brackets on both ends to prevent the gate from being lifted up or moved aside when closed. When called in to repair gates others had installed, he was amazed at the number of installations that had NO means to prevent...

Is a chain guard a must, yes or no?

No I don't. My bike has a shaft housing... like the side shafts on your car. Why don't cars have chain drives, I wonder?

    Bike value...papers vs no papers

Most stolen bikes have no papers...

Is a chain guard a must, yes or no?

I bought my BMW boxer-engined bikes because they don't have a chain. My Honda XL185S chain gave me enough $h1t.

Life in America - We made the move.

When travelling, I use those typical tourist inside shirt / jacket neck pouches to carry my ID / passport / wallet. I also keep some reserve cash inside my shaving kit in my carry-on bag. I also carry my credit cards separate from my wallet, with some small denomination cash notes in with the...
