I would NEVER fill a modern common-rail diesel bakkie at one of those co-op style fuel stations. That stuff is cut with diesel and who knows what else. The commercial vehicles can handle that as they are considered "multi-fuel" tolerant, but not your new bakkie engines. Fine for something like...

Having looked for a WR250F for some time, I'd say that your price is a little high. HOWEVER: we seem to be in a recession at the moment. Either hang on to it, or I'd say a selling price would be around R45k. If you were in Gauteng, it would move faster. More guys riding up this way.

My first bike as an adult was an XT550, so no problem, with your decision there. :) And now you can ride it for the rest of your life without worrying about cams and valves and so on like the KTM and Honda people.

Buy it. I had a 2010 300 and my wife had a 2008. No more issues than a Jap bike, and there are enough KTM dealers country-wide.

The 2012 starter was the upgrade and fits the 2010. I know, because I had a 2010 with the same issue.

For under R40k you can get a very good Yamaha WR250F that is the epitome of a robust enduro bike that doesn't cost as much to repair and maintain as the European bikes, and with 4 x more quality than the Kayo. IMHO.

Surely the EFI system would have an upstream AFM? And a downstream O2 sensor? Increased airflow SHOULD mean an automatic increase in fuel injection volume and duration? That's why you don't have to worry about the EFI when dropping to sea level from Sani Pass. I would inspect the plug anywat...

All I can contribute is that I bought a 1981 KTM 250 from Butch's workshop mechanic in 1984 if I recall. The LHS kickstart was a sod. Also, they used Italian CDI's and they were not very reliable. MarelliMotori? Bike was great, light and powerful.
