Same rider. Same speed. Same impact. Different gloves. Does synthetics and fabric protect the same as kangaroo leather. Does this logic apply to all gear? Converse sneaker vs dedicated leather boot?

It means he went down without his hands taking the impact first. If his hands took the same impact Johan's did they would not survive. Not all impacts are the same. That is the point.

Did you look at the photo JohanP posted about going down at 120km/h and sliding for 80m. Glove held up just fine. Will a mechanic glove do this? Who knows. Maybe the belt sander test is needed.

The argument for durability is moot though. It is all about protection. I have mountain bike gloves that lasted me for 10 years. MANY kms and they are holding up. It is a glove right? It outlasted a pair of Alpinestars bike specific gloves. Would I take them on the bike? HELL NO. They won't...

I have some reservations with these. I'm sure they'll hold up during a light altercation with dirt but tar.... yoh... I can spot multiple failure points. Like Johan said, these are mechanic gloves, not riding gloves. As for outlasting the BMW gear... looking forward to your review.
