    Tool tube placement

I fitted a tube below air box, 2008 model.  Had to trim the side cover slightly to fit over tube.

Sprocket change on the klr 650.

Any particular reason you selected the 17/45 ratio?  The 17/45 ratio differs from the 16/43 ratio by only 1.5% and the 16 T sprocket already seems to be a tight fit (chain close to the alternator wiring) on my '08.

Do you grease your air filter where it seats?

I used to grease, now testing without grease.  Haven't seen a difference yet.

    KLR radiator damaged

Sounds fairy nuff, I'd consider that.

Any bike shops open in Joburg?

I would like to buy a summer jacket, but cannot find a bike shop that is open.  Anyone know of a shop which sells motorbike clothing that is open before new year's?

LADY RIDERS / NEW RIDERS (RIDING THE WRONG BIKE)

Some newbies require bikes that are big & powerful enough to carry both themselves and their egos.  :peepwall:

Travelling into Zim,Malawi and Mozambique on a learners licence

Try Lady Grey, Barkly East, over Tiffendel, Rhodes etc.  That area close to Lesotho is fantastic, with a bit of planning you can also cover lots of fairly easy gravel.  Something I have been thinking of doing is an around Lesotho trip, I love the mountains.

Sasolburg to Augrabies along Vaal / Orange, then Prince Albert - camping sites?

A friend and I are planning to do a trip from Sasolburg to Augrabies, then down to Prince Albert.  At the moment we have only booked a chalet close to Bloemhof dam.  We plan to sleep over close to Douglas, Kakamas, Carnavon or Loxton, close to Karoo Nasionale Park and then down to Pince Albert...

Op wat het jy jou bike lisensie gedoen..............

Another SS!  My first bike when I was at school;  I was always last in any race even if no one else was racing. The 4-stroke 50 was no match for the later 2-stroke 50's.  It was of course already 10 years old when I got it.

    KLR long distance touring

The vibration is the bike's built-in alert that goes off if you are unlucky enough to hit tar.

KLR 08 - Frame screw lost!

I lost the same bolt when the bike was still new.  Replaced both sides with 8.8 HT bolts (+locktite).  Have done over 10 000km since without any more problems.

    Kenda K270 dual sport tyre

My 2c: My previous set lasted ~9000 km (probably did about 2/3 on tar).  Struggled with them when new, almost landed on my face 500 m after fitting them.  The tyres squirmed a lot on tar.  It definitely does not grip well on wet tar. OK that's the bad news.  Inflate front & back to 2.5 bar and...

2 km KLR? Carb or CDI...?

Difficulty with starting could also be caused by the automatic decompression mechanism.  My '08 model struggled to start when new, took back to dealer, they said they changed tolerance on the decompression valve.  Started fine since then.
