I did buy it second hand, but it was a petite ladies bike. Think it's the standard spring. A big friend of mine also had one and it's spring was also hard.

I bought the EJK from @Jacobsroodt and it definitely solve the jerky throttle. A bit pricey, but that"s our weak Rand to blame. Roodt even phoned me and discussed the problem with me. Impressed by that.
