I rode the 900XR with quick shifter when my bike went in for service. I found that shifting without clutch on my own bike was a lot smoother than the quick shifter on the XR, I was not at all impressed with it.

It expired millions of years ago, thats how it became oil. Everything I've read says that even in use, oil doesnt break down, it becomes contaminated. I would have no problem using that.

The Harley's are not performance based, so may disappoint. I like the Triumph, I've had an opportunity to ride the Speedmaster, and its fun. My heart says Guzzi, so I'd likely go that route.

80km round trip, every day. I have tried over the past 15 years to have a "cheapie" bike just for the commute, and my more expensive one for weekend, trips etc. I have seldom sold a commuter with less than 100 000km.
