Exactly. There is no light switch on 500 either - i just pulled fuse. I actually prefer it that way, as i cannot accidentaly switch it back on.

The best petrol solution is to get that 6 petrol foldable bladder and sit it on your front fender ties to handlebars in frint of your light. Just make sure to switch the light off. Like so:

You will be fine on T7, given that you took that fat *** 660 through Kaokoland. It will be a workout, but doable - I believe last year ppl did it on HP2 and similar, so you should be fine. I would strongly recommend to sleepover in PN and go back to Vioolsdrift vial Holgat river - very nice...

On the transit road there is also river you have to cross - depending on season it might be completely dry or km or so long swamp with crocodilles and stuff. I have done it in December on bike and it was dry, and then again in May in 4x4 and it was swamp.
