Why are number plates in SA on bikes so big? Internationally there is bike spesific smaller (looks like the are legal) plates. Is there any legal options available for smaller plates?

OK, I have done it, I got the last poster on my wall, a 1990 BMW K1. She left the factory in the traditional "Marakesh red and broom-handle yellow" colours (like my poster), but got repainted in 1995 into the more sombre official blue/black/purple colour scheme. She is in perfect condition...

Finally bought a bike that can go on the road again, last one was 27 years ago, so bought the one that I wanted then, but could not afford.  Living in Cpt and got a 1981 BMW R100, hope to add a GS in the next year as well.
