    nama bike camp

I'm usually the "silent customer" who simply moves on when encountering bad service. This incident brought the "red mist" down though......I've waited a couple of days to post, so as not to do so in anger. I can be quite hot-headed, so bounced this off of a couple of close friends......who had...

    Electrical connectors - CT

Anyone know anywhere in CT that one can get hold of these type of connectors individually, with metal parts included ? I've found a place that does - you can get the plastic parts individually, but they only sell the metal parts in 100's (ie 100 male, and 100 female). I'm looking for two pin -...

    Calling carb gurus.....

By default, I guess that means old people.... Question. Standard 2t slide carb. The main jet feeds fuel through the emulsion tube and the needle seat / jet into the venturi. The needle and seat / jet controls mixture roughly for the middle third of throttle travel. Main jet size then controls...

    XRV 750 (RD07) - Fuel tap rebuild?

My fuel petcock / tap seems to have given up the ghost. The fuel flows freely when in the "off" position - makes removing the tank from the bike quite a messy, potentially explosive, exercise (first hand experience in the messy part now!). Add to this, I'm not sure if the "reserve position"...

    fitting grips

Anyone have any useful "home cure" tips for "slipping grips"...? I have a set of Oxford heated grips on the bike. Over time they have started turning / slipping on the bars. This is particularly annoying on the throttle side......the throttle actually closes over time, while the grip stays in...

    Silverton Radiators - Montague gardens

Doesn't appear that they're there anymore. Does anyone know if that branch has moved, or have they shut up shop? Pity if they've shut - they were very helpful.

    Boano AT

Met and Italian chap, Mauro, in Namibia. He's doing a RTW. Bike is Boano front to back. All carbon fibre, including 35L tank. Sachs front-end, and Ohlin's rear. The motor is newly re-built. Reckons it would set you back approx. EUR12,500 as it stands. He's doing charity work for Lions Club and...

    Steinkpf to Sendelingsdrif via Eksteenfontein

Hi, Anyone done this route - skirts the Richtersveld park? Basically there's an unnamed route from the R382 through to Sendelings. Guessing from the fact that it doesn't appear to have a route number, it could be "tweespoor". Trying to gauge how long it would take to get from Springbok to...

    Namibia - C32 from Karibib to C28?

Hi, Anyone ridden the C32 from Karibib (on main Swakop - Windhoek rd) to the C28? (C28 is the dirt rd from Windhoek to Swakop). We're looking for a way from Brandberg down to the Kuiseb pass area. Looking at the C32 on Google Maps, it looks like it could follow a couple of river beds. Would...

This little piggy went to the market......

So, it appears that there were a couple of roadworthy blitz’s around the Western Cape yesterday. I was stopped at one of these roadblocks on my roadbike. I didn't have a numberplate on this one for various reasons (other than the obvious. The massive plates that they insist on here ruins the...

    AT radiator cap

The rad cap on my AT seems due for replacement. Does anyone know of a car cap that is a match for size and pressure? The big 1.1 stamped on the current one leads me to believe that the opening pressure is 1.1 bar / 16 psi. The corolla cap was a straight match for my ninja a couple of years back...

    Travel insurance - Namibia

Hi, I'll be doing a Nam trip next month for about 12 days, and I've just been informed by my medical aid that my standard travel insurance doesn't cover me for bike related activities if the motorcycle in question is greater than 200cc..... So much for the R1200 a month that I pay for med...
