I've been running the 1290 screen for about a week and it seems to be the best out of the std screen and the big touring screen. I haven't had a chance to test the short R screen though.
You can fit the 1290 one without any other parts, you just need to space it forward by about 6-10mm in order to get the full adjustability all the way to the bottom, otherwise the screen hits the headlight mask. I just used some sections of fuel hose as spacers and longer bolts.
I must admit I haven't done a good long stretch on the highway with it yet, just a couple offramps at a time, but it feels like the air is cleaner than the other screens.
