OK so it's not on 2 wheels, unless the trailer counts.. But I've always enjoyed restoring old things and this one cropped up on Gumtree for R1000 so I thought I'd give it a go..

It's a 1965 Kiekhaefer Mercury 200 20HP outboard engine.
I haven't begun stripping it yet but a curory inspection shows all the parts are there (I think) so hopefully this can be made into a living, breathing machine again..
Some pics of it "as is" after collecting it.

Serial Number plate. According to www.oldmercs.com it's a 1965 model. I was born in '64 so i'm going with that year..  :lol8:

This model was painted all "Phantom Black."
The serial number was on a plate riveted to the swivel bracket above and between the clamp screws.
Serial numbers 1650513 thru 1709788 are 1964 models.
Serial numbers 1798954 thru 1972826 are 1965 models.
Serial numbers 1972827 thru 2094830 are 1966 models.
This model was offered in both Short and Long Shaft versions.

The hood. Not the original colour, (see above) I'd like to do it in black again, with a bit of sparkle thrown in.. :)

Seller threw in the tank. No rust, nice condition. The fuel line and primer bulb was in bad shape.
Solid as a rock, so I tossed them out.
