2 Strokes - What to look for?

I'm looking for a nice play bike for the dunes and mx type tracks, so I'm looking for some info on big 2 strokes:

What bikes should I stay away from?

What size engine do I go for?  (I was thinking at least 450, but they seem quite scarce...)

What should I look out for on a 2T bike?

What is a good price for a reasonably looked after 2T?

How many hours is "a lot"?
