Your chance to own the legendary XR650R.
For those not familiar with the ZAAR: I'd like to echo the words of the person I bought the bike from: "Real man's bike - kickstart only"
Good running condition. Bike has some scratches from normal use, but never been in a crash.
Engine was rebuilt completely at 16,000km by previous owner and it really runs like new.
Hardly using the bike and need the money for another project.
Some extras:
- large tank (think it's a Safari 17l)
- oil sight tube
- factory fitted 12V power supply while bike is running (bike does not have/need a battery)
- FMF zorst
- rear shock seals redone about 1000km ago
Cautions:
- bike registered but not roadworthy. Main reasons: no chain guard, rear flickers fell off (got brand new spares), hooter croaky, headlight switch flaky. I had it roadworthy after buying it, but never got round to taking it to traffic dept but not an issue for me since we mainly ride on farm roads
- right handguard is the standard all-plastic unit and is broken. I would replace the guards with Barkbuster or other alu backbone unit if I were you
- kickstart only. If you didn't know this already then this is probably not the bike for you
- bike is in Montagu but I come to Cape Town regularly in case there's a serious buyer in the area
This bike has an undeserved bad rep for difficulty starting. Yes you have to know a few recipes but once you do you won't have any difficulty. Of course I'll coach you!
EDIT: PriceR45,000 R40,000 or nearest cash offer! Serious seller.
I spotted the beautiful XR for sale by [adv] for the same price ... mine is obviously not as bling as his hence the lower price!
EDIT Provisionally sold.
