I got my hands on a 2002 R1150GS, via a public auction, that was supplied without keys. I have the NATIS docs, it was a police bike.
I have read a couple of freds regarding key loss, but mostly just for the 1200GS. Does the same apply for the 1150? Do you need to order a key at a ridiculous price via BMW on your VIN number? Do you need to change the whole ECU with a new set of ignition/locks and keys? Can you jigga to only say change the lock barrel? Can you get a used ECU plus locks plus keys from say ACME?
What are my options guys? What will be the cheapest route? And I ask cheapest because the bike was bought from auction on sight only and ex police, so I expect loads of TLC and maintenance.
