thats not a bad price. Not much more than you would have paid locally.

It is still an expensive purchase for a bike that is already as expensive as it is, but this bike is THAT much fun on dirt roads at speed, that I for one will pay it. Apparently the Alpina rims were stock on some SMT motard bikes so they are quite strong apparently, and the big advantage is that they are still tubeless.

The KTM HD wheels will certainly be much stronger, but will be much narrower. 1.85 front / 2.5 rear. Your current rims will be 2.5 front / 4.25 rear.
If you are willing to compromise on tubeless wheels, I would suggest replacing the rim only on your front wheel with one from a KTM 790/890 Rally, which is a 2.15 wide DID Dirt Star rim with the strength you are looking for. You will also need to replace the spokes as I see there is a ~20mm difference in spoke length between the bikes.

KTM Part numbers
2.15 DID Dirt Star front - 63509170000C1
4.00 DID Dirt Star rear - 63510170000C1
Will my oem hub still work? Just buy the rim and spokes for an 890 and use my current hub?

Yes, your existing hubs will work as I believe the hubs on the 1290 are the same as the 890

seems like a problem on the 1290. watched a video last night, Lost in Albania, were 2 guys went on a real adventure according to them, 890 and new 1290. first day before lunch the 1290 was stranded with a busted front rim and they didn't have any tubes to fix.

I paid R14,046.00, from Alpina's UK distributor, shipping to an address in the UK. This is for a built front wheel, incl rim, nipples, spokes and hub. The stock rotors, axle, ABS ring, etc will come off my current OEM wheel. I didn't order a rear, only a front wheel. I haven't received my order yet however, ETA is in November some time.
99 probleme, Dankie Pa, Dankie Ma🤣

Dis donners teleurstellend laat KTM so duur fiets verkoop met sulke seak kwaliteit rims.

I think it's also the extra 50hp on the 1290 that also causes problems :ROFLMAO:

On the 1190 after bending the third front rim I made peace with this...
Don't deflate, ever.

And then I just had to bend the rim on the 1290 (because of a slow puncture) and got my nice reminder to not drop my standards/pressures!
