Upfront I have to apologize for what I did. I could not help myself. The flashlight made me do it.

When I got the first shipment of the 9 LED light I thought that it will not be needed to change anything. 3000 real lumen is more than what you need!!!

But one stormy dark night I found myself alone in the workshop. Just me and the light. At first I said to myself I need to go to bed. That is what normal people do right? Why I am up this late.

As I was packing up I thought let’s just take a look. What harm can one look do....  Just one tweak.. Just one look. Who knows? I opened the 9 LED light and looked at the standard driver. My hopes dropped. It was a pre-programmed step down driver. One that cannot be tweaked without reprogramming the controller. There were no hope. I was relieved but sad.

And then in the corner of my eye I saw two small silicone coated wires sticking out of my future product box. The new high power driver. She had no host to live in yet. a lonely little driver. Young and so much potential I thought. What are the chances that she will fit? 1/1000?

With a quick twist of the soldering iron the standard driver where out and yes she did fit. Almost like she was made for this. What a sad day for animals. My heart goes out to all the dogs that will be burned out of bushes.

The modified light consume about 75W of power and produces more than 6000 real lumen. On full power it does tend to get very hot. For this the high power driver will compensate and reduce the power to lower levels if it exceeds the safe temperature.

The ceiling bounce test is a reliable and easy way to compare similar lights. By shining each light at the ceiling and measuring with a lux meter the ambient light. It is possible to compare which is brighter and by how much. In this case the modified light is double as bright.

The modification has the following effect:
1. The light requires 3 cells with a  Max Continuous Discharge of 8A or more.
2. There are only 3 modes. High(+6000 Lumen), Mid(3000 Lumen) and Low(1000 Lumen)
3. The light gets very hot and can not be run continually
4. Effective cumulative run-time on high is around 35min. It is not recommended to test this. This is a calculated value based on the amount of power used and what is typically available.
