Newish Forma boots already coming apart and need to repair.
Apparently Boot Fix Shoe Glue is the stuff - anybody got some I can buy please?
Or recommend where I can get them repaired fast in Joburg.
Going on a trip in a couple of days...

TIA

No kidding, I've found that white wood glue works a treat on hard used hiking boots.

Especially if it's a pre-historic bottle, long forgotten on an inaccessible shelf, still bearing the original R1:25c price label!

Self tapping screws around the edges work good. Had some boots repaired professionally and they used this method.

I have found that the only stuff that sticks polyurethane soles with any degree of certainty is the Sikaflex polyurethane bonding agent which comes as thick black snot in a squeeze out tube like silicon seal. Nothing else lasts. It's relatively expensive at R160 a tube. Think it was called 11FC

Makes sense but mine don't have a "ridge" for screws - which is also a problem BTW when it comes to shifting standing up...

Through my involvement in sailing I have found there is another product which will bond polyurethane as well as being easier to clean up and cheaper. It is called Fix15.

I have struggled with a pair of BMW GS boots (yes seemed to be a bad batch and an issue with Sidi) - had a few pairs that were great but these just keep wanting to let go (and naf am I using self tappers). I have tried Pratleys WonderFix and also the best Genkem contact adhesive - prepped, clamped and they still let go on a recent trip. A mate had a big bottle of the superglue sold these days for filling wood (a bit like the Q-Bond one) ... well he grabbed my boots and did his magic saying it is the only thing that has worked for him. Well vaarkme it is still holding up and not showing any signs of delaminating. Just used it on another pair of shorty boots that were showing a few edges wanting to lift slightly. I am pleasantly surprised.  :thumleft:

I used the folliwing glue on the soles of my BMW boots and I am very happy with the results. I bought the glue at Chamberlain hardware store.

Nothing can repair a boot like Shoe Goo. Sometimes available at sportsmans warehouse, otherwise online. Awesome stuff.

Have the same BMW boots as @Edgar. Naturally both soles decided to let go on a recent trip. Glued it with that 2-part epoxy stuff that comes in a double syringe. Lasted for a few days until i got home, and then let go again today.

Some interesting sugestions here, not sure what to use to permanently fix this. I dont have the patience to do this once a month, or to always worry about it coming loose again.

I see thar the sole has a number of chambers / cavities...not sure how the sole can be permanently attached without filling those cavities to provide a larger contact patch....just gluing around the edges does not seem to work.

You need a glue that stays flexible after the bond, I was on a trip to the karoo, slept over in sutherland and sat around the fire with my boots towards the firepit so that my feet can warm up, after about 15 minutes my WR2 boots whole sole just fall off, very quickly picked it up and press fit it again that was more than 5 years ago and the soles have not come loose, I have bought a red glue can from the china's --shoe glue---apply it in the same way as the yellow contact glue, but heat it up with a heat gun I did it with my merrels and they seem to stay attached it's been 3 weeks now and I wear them about 3 times a week in the garage

Yes, was a nice and warm day on both ocassions when the soles let go......seems these BMW boots was made for european winters. There was no evidence that it was previously repaired....and both boots's soles let go within 30 minutes from one onother.

Edgar, daai kak gaan nie hou nie, glo my.
