About 5 months ago... Mrs Goose & I decided that action was nescessary with regard to accomodation. Still very much "work-in-progress" - BUT the concept is as follows:
Two major bodies in South Africa, both of which do accommodation grading systems and have different ways of representing their members and assisting the public, are NAA and SATGC.
There are many others who also do have quality assurance elements, but with the NAA and SATGC every single establishment bearing their symbol has been assessed and deemed to meet the required standard.
We decided that a similar body or control organisation was required to look after the interest of bikers - especially the "group" involved in touring and adventure riding. A lot of establishments offer really good facilities... but only partially cater for bikers.
Wifey decided to start compiling a quality and "Accomodation Grading" system for biking - also aimed at the International tourist.
The logo/badge shown is also still in it's infancy and under development, but would be plaque mounted and awarded to different B&B's, Restaurants, Hotels and Self Catering establishments that cater for two-wheel tourers.
Grading will possibly be shown by means of "helmets" instead of Stars! - and depending on the grading, bikers would be able to quickly see what services are offered. We would eventually compile a printed booklet - similar to the "Portfolio Collection" - but the whole listing would also be available online ;D
The most difficult part however would be for a small number of people to actually "grade" all (most probably impossible) or some of the better establishments. Registration with SA Tourism is under way ..... thus allowing the "Grader/s" to get some ViP treatment.
A specific "booklet" or checklist is being compiled, which would be used to list certain requirements to be used for grading..... an idea of such requirements is listed... but would need major additions depending on individual requirements.
We would be looking for people (i.e the WD's) to join/assist with grading..... 8) if interestedâ?¦?

- - Secure parking for scoots
- - Lockable or secure storage for ATGATT
- - Washing/cleaning facilities for equipment if needed
- - Laundry/ironing services (for that special candle-lit dinner perhaps)
- - facilities for the small luxuries that the lady biker/pillion would require (Things they would know...)
- - Tour or ride brochures for use by riders in area
???? and many more..... I am sure the list could grow substantially
