I have this dilemma...
Currently I'm using ordinary engine oil on the air filters of both my KLR650 and DR650, but the oil tends to (over 2-3 week period) 'flow' down the filter and gathers in the bottom part of the filter (becoming soggy) and airbox. The upper part of the filter eventually becomes rather dry(ish).
Previously I used the Air Filter Oil in the can and although very efficient, found it to be very sticky and makes cleaning the filter rather difficult. The enigine oil I am cleaning with Prepsol (as advised by Le Cap) and it is quick and works well, but the air filter oil I used to clean with dishwashing liquid - a rather long and cumbersome process.
A friend has now recommended that I again switch back to the "sticky stuff" but clean the filter with parrafine.
What is your advice/experience on this...and the issue of engine oil vs air filter oil in air filters?
