Sorry to hear about the injury bud, hope the prognosis is good, no surgery needed. Holding thumbs.

Nice report.. :thumleft:

Not sure I agree with "so would most likely still go for the tubed tyres shortly as this will allow me to run lower pressures"...

did not really explain:  the reason for this is that I would also change the rims to the 950 se equivalent in front and the 990 equivalent in rear i.e. narrower harder (Excell/Did) rims with stronger spokes - so these should even at lower pressures resist impact damage to the rims themselves better and even if you get a smiley the inflation should stay intact at worst you might get a pinch flat to the tube which is easier to repair than a rim. ;) - I would have preferred to have ran at lower pressures for better traction and a softer ride

.... 6 months of rehab is seemingly in my near future  :'( ::)

I can help... taking your bike for a regular spin is critical for decent bike up-keep... when should I fetch her.... :)

Tore my medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and ruptured my Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) but not my ACL (so could have been worse)  but would still be in a knee brace (24/7) for the next 6 weeks and a couple of months worth of physio thereafter - so luckily no opp required.  But so far the MRI and knee brace and initial visits to Orthopaedic Surgeon is already sitting at R12k  :'(

If you don't have a brace yet I have 2 to choose from that you can borrow.

Shoo, sounds complicated.  Hope you heal well and completely.  Trusting you will be able to bend the knee enough to be able to ride the bike during the 6 weeks....

Can not even drive a car during the next 6 weeks - the brace totally incapacitates the knee.  Off a bike for probably 3 months.... :xxbah:

Best of luck with the recovery hope all goes well

Nic report Toors. Eish sorry about the knee, I hope it heals up soon. Get the physio going asap so you dont loose strenth in the leg.
I also have a spare leg brace if you need one. Shout if you need anything.
Cheers, See you around at RAD...  :thumleft:

Bad luck Toors, I dont worry too much about the bike, it's the cost of the personal injuries that scares me. The medical bills are only part of it, then there's the pain, inconvenience, possible future compromise, and the list goes on but It's good to hear you dont require surgery and you seem to have your sense on humour intact.
Spare a thought for the first two people who had accidents at the ACDSF this year, the lady was first, on a perfectly good, perfectly straight gravel road and riding a perfectly powerful 690, she lost it and broke her tibia. She was loaded into the ambulance and her concerned husband, on his bigger KTM, went ahead of the ambo, on their way back to Siera he lost it too and ploughed into the entrance walls, breaking tibia and fibula!
Was it rotten luck or did was he the perfect husbsnd who felt so guilty to carry on enjoying the riding and the weekend? Or was he a quick thinker who also cant stand to do the cooking, dishes, laundry etc? Hope they recover well and retain their sense of humour too.
My 10c on the routes:they were great. The perfect DS bike for it :KTM 690. I did the red routes, at pace, on a 1200 GSA and only disliked the rocky decent into Muden, the rest was great.
