Pack Dog
Hi Fellow Wild dogs,
I was asked to accompany a colleague`s dad to have a look at a possible restoration project. The project entails a Suzuki GS850 shaft drive. We were told it is a `93 model, but I have my doubts. Apart from being stripped many years ago, the engine was "overhauled" twice by previous owners due to incorrect rings fitted??? The engine does not resemble a re-conditioned look, lots of oil stains on the block, the inlet ports are not all sealed. It appears as if all the parts are not there in the cardboard box. The current owner had the seat recovered and frame powder coated.
My request to you:
Want would you consider a reasonable price on face value?
Where would you be able to find parts for these vintage motorcycles in Gauteng/Free State areas?
I guess the paperwork is far outdated, how would you go about to rectify this? Assuming it can be very costly?
Where to start, my guess would be to strip everything down to bolts and nuts?
Anything that he has to be very careful before committing to this project?
Attached are some pics
Thank you.
