I found this app today and installed a demo version.
What caught my interest was in the reviews a guy said he bought an Etrex20 and now don't need it anymore since this app does everything the Etrex does. I was able to install free maps (Mapquest - Openstreet map) and make them available offline. I was also able to import a .GPX file for a route.

I have no experience with GPS's, so I have nothing to compare it to and I'm not sure what to look out for.
