We decided to go on a quick 1 day ride in the 'kontrei'!  The company consisted of myself, my better half and her brother-in-law which came over to the dark side recently having purchased a brand new KTM 640.

We planned to leave Malmesbury at 10 and plotted our adventure using survey maps and keeping off tar.
From Malmesbury we went towards Hopefield and took a gravel road to Darling.  From there we had a few wrong turns and many gates to open and close, just to open them again.

Finally we got to a gate which we couldn't open and had to turn back after contemplating going this way.................

Any path is a road!!

We backtracked and found the right road, and raced the train to Hopefield!

After a quick cheap lunch, ice cold coke in a glass bottle a friendly local told us about a dirt road running through the farms.  To our surprise there were some other KTM fans found in Hopefield.

Following the Caledonia sign we made our way to the great Bergriver.  We had a refreshing plunge in the water and the KTM's watched us in envy........

After a long swim we meandered our way back home via Picketberg and Moorreesburg.  We arrived home tired but satisfied.  The bikes did well as usual and one must never take for granted the beautiful rides on our doorstep!!

Yes, going nowhere without them, especially if you ride with someone who's got a 640!

Looks like it was great fun. I love the look of the 640.

Ps, Ask your swaar if his fingers tasted nice that day  :D

Crazy Horse, your riding partner looks a hell of a lot like Anton. i did a ride some time ago when he still had an AT. ;D

You bet ya...twin had to go, but couldn't stay away...640 more than makes up for the 18month absence...

By the way...wasn't chewing my fingers...that's the where the hell are we on this map look...

gemini, outta curiosity, have you still go your tupperware bike? If so you should consider taking her out to Bonnievale this weekend for the first regional enduro, it should be awesome. Planning on making a weekend of it camping at the venue at the river.....anyhow sorry for the hijack.

Afraid not...sold her yesterday...need toys for the 640...Enjoy Bonnievale...
