Best tyre combination for a GS 1200

I'm helping a friend to buy new tyres for his GS 1200. He wants to do a little bit more off road but still wants a tyre that can handle high speed tar. I thought the 150 Hydies will do the trick but couldn't get any so we opted for a hydie in front and a scorpion at the back. Is anyone else also using this combination and what is the feedback.
