Why is it that the service industry, specifically regarding or beloved bikes, really sucks ???
Those of you who know me will agree I probably have the cleanest, best looked after Strom on the forum.
I treat my bike like a baby, I have always have done, but!
Recently there was a rattling noise coming from the timing chain side of the motor, the bike is 11 months old
and has done about 26 000 kays, of mostly long distance tar touring.
Because she is still under her 2 year factory warranty I took her back to the dealer to be checked out.
It took them 2 and a half weeks to come back to me, and inform me that the bike is overdue for it's last
service (all the others were bang on time) and due to this they have voided the warranty completely and will
not honour any repairs. This despite the fact that I complianed about a "tappet" noise at 10 00 kays.
This is the same dealership where I have spent close to R200 000-00 in the last 18 months.
All I can say is they can take a short walk off a very high cliff as far as I am concerned, they will never see
me again, and in future I will take my business elsewhere.
Are we suckers for punishment, in my humble opinion I think so, my course of action has been to take this matter
to their managing director, I will be suprised if he even bothers to grace me with a written reply. Customer satisfaction does not seem to come into the equation in South Africa, and once you ride your new bike through and out of the dealer's door you are on your own.
I am not happy
