Bike Fishing Setup

Thinking of doing a camping and fishing trip along the garden route on the bike over December.
I'm thinking of attaching a PVC pipe with a slot cut for the reel to the top box on my 1190.
How would you attach a surf rod to your bike, anyone got examples?
