ls BirdPro any good?

I haven't tried it at all. My wife has the Roberts app but I'm a cheapskate and use the free Merlin app by Lab.

You'll just have to enter your region (Southern Africa)

It's quite useful to record bird calls (and use them to get the bird closer.

ls BirdPro any good?

I finally decided to stop being a cheapskate and shell out for an app. I use Sasol eBirds 5th edition and am very happy with it. I still prefer the book (Sasol field guide) for identification - far easier to quickly compare the number of likely culprits. Yet the app has allowed me to see some birds I'd only ever heard before (e.g. little rush warbler), by using the recorded songs to lure them. It also helps ID by song alone, and has quite a few photos in its database (I used to use the Sasol photographic book/guide to cross-check, but now use the app).

Another birding app I use often, which is free, is BirdLasser. It doesn't help with identification at all. It's simply a logger/tracker, but I find it easier to set up trip logging / tracking, as opposed to the Sasol app. Sasol I use for my lifetime list, rather than specific trip lists.
