Hi Guys.
A friend of mine rides a BMW F650GS Dakar 2007 model. We went on a trip from PTA to Sodwana this past weekend, and after about 200km the rear shock started leaking oil. It was slow at first but after about 400km (we did not realise it was in fact from the shock otherwise trip would have stopped after 200km) the rear suspension was completely shot and I could compress the bike to bottom with one hand easily. BMW said 4 days and R9k later they would help. We eventually got hold of a guy that can recon the unit in PTA for about R1600?
Now the big Q is: What aftermarket units are good? Is Ohlins a good way to go, what do they sell for and where do we get them? I heard the shock only lasts about 30000km and the bike has 32k km on.
Thanks!
