;D ;D ;D >:D

I pulled a Michnus a la porn on you guys to get attention.

The Subject should read...Old school vs. the computer jocks

Some interesting posts on my question regarding the 950 vs. the 990 grabbed my attention. So I would like to ask your opinion on the trend by motorcycle manufacturers the make bikes more and more electronic advanced.

Is it a bad or good thing?
Both Lecap and Adventurer, two of the more capable (in fixing terms) members here are outspoken against the advanced (??) electronics in the big bikes. The biggest issue here is. Can I fix it in the bush if it breaks? I am no KTM expert but what I read on the forum it seems that KTM will/may/are following the trend to make the bikes better by using more electronics.

Many of the replies went around the fact that carbs are easier to work on than EFI. But Michnus replied that EFI are now 27 years with us. The BMâ??s Can bus system makes it nearly impossible for anybody to work on it in the bush. Yet I have read of problems with the old 1150â??s electronics that could not being fixed and had to be replaced. (Simon and Lisa RTW, South America)

So now I wonder, Are advanced electronics really an advance or not?

Please no BM vs KTM crap ;) and I am merely using this two brands as an example. :p
