BestRest takes this Prop 65 requirement seriously because California can impose a fine of $2,500 per day, for each violation, for each product. That’s why we’re alerting our customers before the August 30, 2018 deadline.

This includes our tire mounting lube known as “BeadGoop”. (It’s NOT a sports drink). Please don’t let children play with, or handle our products. (They might grow up to become motorcycle enthusiasts)
BestRest will be attaching a Prop 65 sticker to all affected products sold after August 30, 2018. If you see that sticker, it’s there because the product might be manufactured with, or contain small amounts of, a chemical or a component that might not be good for you. Substances may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

To further set your mind at ease, we hereby affirm that none of our products are manufactured using equipment or facilities that also process peanuts or other allergy-inducing tree-grown nuts, or that processes fruits known to cause allergic reactions… Except bananas… and kiwi fruit. Most of our products contain bananas and kiwi. And sea salt (non-iodized).

P.P.P.S. Of course this is all tongue-in-cheek, but it points out the problems with Prop. 65. As a small business we produce products that are NOT hazardous, but some bits and pieces might trigger a Prop. 65 violation: Internal wire component have been soldered. We used Loctite on a nut. We use plastic packing tape on our cardboard boxes. You get the picture.

- Dyes, including hair dye, vegetable-based dye, alcohol-based dye, and you’ll dye if you even touch our products
- PVC plastic, used to coat the outsides of electrical wires and prevent short-circuits
- Soldered connections; solder may contain lead, tin, antimony, or other heavy metals, including heavy metal rock bands
- Cloth that has a PVC waterproofing coating on one side (our cloth is synthetic, not cotton or bamboo or hemp fiber)
- Cloth that has an ink-based silkscreen logo (similar to ball point ink, but hazardous if swallowed by the gallon)
- Cloth that is sewn together using nylon threads (nylon can irritate the skin; but so can pantyhose)
- Rope that was made from fully GMO-inspired synthetic materials, but is perfectly safe for mountain climbing
- Adhesives, including thread locking agents (i.e. Loctite), baling wire, and chewing gum
- Rubber bumpers, rubber end caps, and other products made from synthetic rubber
- Cardboard boxes that were glued together using mineral-based glues and adhesives
- Packing tape that has a PVC front surface and a chemically bonding adhesive backing
- Duct tape that has a PVC/cloth front surface and a chemically bonding adhesive backing
- Synthetic woven air filters, filter canisters, and filter hoses made from synthetic rubber
- Instruction sheets that were printed on a laser printer, using carbon-based toner cartridges
- Folding chairs, including those made by the Travel Chair company (nylon seats, plastic fittings)
- Plastic bags used for holding components or for packaging (*)
- (*) Note: please don’t put 3″ x 5″ Ziploc bags over your head; they can restrict breathing
