Caledon to Protem via the railroad service roads

On Saturday Deon, his son Gideon and I did a trip from Caledon to Protem station via the railroad service roads. Perfect trip for the XRs and Gideon's new DRZ400. Deon wanted to visit each station and check out the railroad turning points visible from Google Earth. The return trip was done via the dirt roads in the area. Total kms was 141 and it took us about 6 hours. The service road is in really bad shape most of the way and lots of obstacles are hidden in the tall grass.

It's a fairly new building, so the signs might be manually weathered. That cafe is in Rietpoel and they sell delicious cheeses. Just what you need for an energy snack mid way.
