Cam Wear. Any examples in SA?

Sad to report my 2019 KTM Adventure R has significant cam wear at 25 000 kms. Took the bike in last week, wasn't sounding right. My spidey senses were correct as my intake valve follower and cam lobe were chewed up. Out of warranty. Talking to KTM SA to see if they can help out with the R50k bill.

Bought secondhand from the KTM dealer. Only put 4 000 kms on the clock.

Anyone seen similar damage and found the cause?

R50k? If a big portion of the engine is replaced, excluding stator and clutch, it will cost about R40k +-. Are all services up to date? That doesn't look too bad to be honest, however can see the wear. Seen way worse than that. KTM SA is very good when it comes to out of warranty claims and goodwill warranties. I'm pretty sure they will honor it given all services with them are up to date.

Did you pull any special tricks to get them to pay? I don't mind paying for labour.

Mine also failed at 25000km and yes I am worried it can happen again.
I’ve just done my 30 000km service at centurion and so far all looks good.
I will however also let them check it again at the next service to make sure all is still in tact.

Thats the estimate the dealership gave me. They're currently talking to KTM SA.

All services done at KTM Cape Town. Last service done at 17 000 kms at KTM Cape Town. I purchased the bike from them at 21 000 kms where they did a check and some other goodies.

Valves look like that at 25 000 kms.

It's good news that they will help out. Let's wait and see.

Let's hope the bike stays intact cause I flipping love this thing! So effortless. Last trip to Lesotho the other gents were exhausted after a day of dirt. I just wanted to keep on going.
