At the beginning of May my wife and I fly down to Cape Town to collect our Triumph 800XC. The plan is then to ride back to Mozambique via as many interesting routes/places as time allows. We enjoy the backroads and gravel roads but do travel cautiously on gravel (80 - 100 clicks) so will not be able to do the longer stretches like Baviaans which we will come back and do some other time.

Plan is:
Sunday 4th May - leave Cape Town
Thursday evening 8th May - must be in Durban to register bike on Friday
Sunday 11th May - slab it back to Matola after weekend with family.

We are thinking of going coastal and usually plan on an early 07H30 start and like to relax from about 15H30 or so. We do stop fairly frequently for pics which wastes a bit of time. As we have done most of the Western Cape routes we were thinking of gapping it to George area and then doing some of the passes in that area and PE area. Then East London to Durban on the Thursday.

Any ideas for interesting detours will be welcome. We do know the N2 well having traveled it many times in the past for surf contests but we were always looking coastwards. Also names of reasonable B&Bs along the way will be welcome.

Thanks
Ken
