Hi All
Next week I am planning on riding my KLR from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg. I am in no particular hurry and I plan to spend a full 3 days on my bike. While I do not plan to do any rough off road bundu bashing, I also do not want to stick to the highway.
This is where I would greatly appreciate any help/suggestions from forumites who have done any of these routes or any alternative routes or who may have local knowledge. As I said, I do not want to take the direct route on the highway, I would like to take in as many mountain passes as possible, and I am happy to spend a substantial part of the trip on dirt roads.
Very roughly, my itinery would be:
Monday 2 October - Cape Town to Knysna
Tuesday 3 October - Knysna via fort Beaufort to Queenstown
Wednesday 4 October - Queenstown via Barkly East, Rhodes, Matatiele, Pietermaritzburg.
The above is only a rough idea and if anyone can suggest more scenic routes please let me know.
