The other day I changed my Mazda 2.0L (1996) gearbox oil. I actually struggled to convince a mechanic do change the gearbox oil on a car that 18 years old...he said that normally you don't change the gearbox oil in a manual box of a car....there's very little heat there to break down the oil, and I think that's the main reason. Why then are we encouraged to change our piggy's gearbox oil every 20k km? And the final drive oil for that matter...even less heat there.
