I was not part of the procession/mass ride, but know a few people that were, including the gent that was hit by the Fortuner.
We actually met up at the Engen Winelands earlier.
The guy swearing on the vid is the father of the boy who was the pillion.
This was for/part of the His Blood Warriors Annual Bible Run, departing from Engen Falsebay on the N2 on Sunday morning.

I'm not engaging in this thread, it's rather disappointing.

I personally don't see it that way. All this debating, discussion, even arguing is making us all think about riding our bikes and staying alive while doing so. It creates awareness amongst us all. Nothing of what is said here can harm anyone who was actually involved in any way.

Honest question. Why are you dissapointed?

Are the bikers 100% innocent in this whole matter?

It's never nice to see a fellow rider down, but we need to learn and improve at every opportunity. The cars and trucks will certainly not learn on behalf of us.

and I would think; How prepared or able is she to react if something crops up?

So, die on ramp is n merge baan wat veronderstel is om voorang na verkeer van regs te gee, wat in die geval die trok was. Op die video, het die voorste biker net gemerge en die trok moes maw na regs beweeg. Pop in die die SUV het heel moontlik te vinnig gery en op haar foon gespeel, maar was sy die oorsaak van die ongeluk?

Korrek, en dis frustrerend om op so n afrit agter n sot te sit wat soos n skilpad versnel, terwyl jy weet ons gaan nou 100+kph verkeer tref teen 60.

Not only that , the driver should have seen multiple bikes filtering in.. its pretty obvious that the inside lane was going to be occupied with slower moving bikes. At least it doesnt seem too hectic.. those bikers could have been seriously injured if the car rammed into them to avoid the truck

Riders should have increased speed to merge in the left lane, they were ALL slower than the truck, which was most likely doing 80+.. bikers at fault..

Huh? The vehicles on the highway have right of way. The responsibility to merge safely is with those on the onramp.

No, they don't, only place where the yield to the right is not in play... Yield to the left, what is basically what the truck has done, BUT the scooter riders didn't play their part to accellerate to highway speed..

Jy mag eers hoofweg spoed toe pas na die hoofweg teken. Soms is daai teken op die oprit, soms eers na jy die hoofweg betree het. Voor daai teken is die spoed grens gewoonlik 80km/h

I ask again, do you then believe that if you are in the right lane at 120 and I am in the left lane at 80 and I turn on my indicator, indicating my intention to change lanes to the right lane, you are expected to slow down to 80 to enable me to change lanes, rather than me wait for you to get past me?

You wait to move over to the right when it is safe to do so... an indicator is showing an intention, not an action..

Not to mention that a God of such immense wisdom and foresight could not instil some of it on his biking warriors...

But we are humans and not gods, so shit happens, unfortunately the lesson was learned from someone else's pain.
